RE: The tariff classification of Benzonitrile, CAS # 100-47-0, imported in bulk form, from China
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated May 26, 2004 you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, Benzonitrile, is an aromatic nitrile-function compound indicated for use as a chemical intermediate.
The applicable subheading for Benzonitrile will be 2926.90.0800, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Nitrile-function compounds: Other: Aromatic: Benzonitrile….. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
